Sugar Glider Cages should be around 2 feet long, 2 feet wide and 3-4 feet high. When selecting a glider cage make sure to get the highest and widest cage possible these are important because they need to room to jump and run. Finch flight cages work great to because the bar spacing is small and it's a tall and wide cage for jumping around and gliding. The spacing between the bars needs to be 1/2 inch or smaller so that they can't squeeze through the spaces. I used bird cages at first until I started building my own cages which cost far less in the long run. Below is a cage that I use for my gliders it measures
30"Wide x 18"Deep x 36"Tall.
This above cage makes a perfect home because the spacing is small enough for your glider not to squeeze through the bars and gives them a lot of area to glide around. You can also design your own glider cage from
vinyl coated polyester mesh screen over a PVC pipe frame. This provides the option to build as large of a cage as you would like and the ability to build it to fit in a room..
- Remember to provide your sugar glider with many branches or perches for more moving space. Sand down any pointed branches to prevent injuries. Only use store bought branches. Never use them from outside because of the risk of parasites, or other harmful bugs.
Try to provide your sugar glider with the largest cage you can build, afford or have room for but at least the minimum from above. Remember to provide many different locations for dishes for their food.
